I am about 98% sure my husband will be relocated to Raleigh in Jan/Feb. I'm flying in this weekend to look at the area. He will work in N. Raleigh so we looked on a previous visit at Wake Forest/Rolesville/Knightdale. The other area I'd like to see is north raleigh. I think the high schools are Middle Creek and Sanderson-how are those schools? I am also confused about Knightdale high school and how it's ranked. I would like for my husband to have an easy commute. If anyone has any recommendations of nice developments in the$300's please do tell. We live presently in a neo-traditional(I think it's called new urbanism) development and definately do not want that again. For us the houses are a little to close together. Also, we got majorly burned by a production home builder so I am extremely nervous about buying a production home. Lastly, if anyone could recommend a realtor with real knowledge on construction it would be appreciated. Thanks!!!!!!!!!

Well MiddleCreek is technically a Cary school, but serves some residents in Apex, my son went there, an excellent school. if you mean Middlebrook that one not so good, my son went there when we first moved there and everyday there were fights and cops coming in to arrest a kid for burglary, assault and drugs, which my son saw used often at the school which is mostly why we moved to Apex, but we have since left NC. I have a great realtor, so PM me and i will give you more info.

You are definitley wise to avoid production homes. Go for local custom builders for the best quaility house. In the 300's you should be able to get most of what you want....moreso in Wake Forrest/Rolesville or Knightdale than in N. Raleigh though.

How did you like your visit to the area? Do you think you have a better feel for what you like and didn't like?

If your husband is going to work in N. Raleigh there are a lot of choices for homes in the area that would minimize the commute and the lot sizes are larger than in Cary and other areas. You will be a bit more challenged in terms of finding a custom builder in that price range.

Send me a PM if you'd like more neighborhood details.
