Normally I'd skip over the resuscitation of a retired, dusty thread but yeah, me too. It's never a bad idea to beat ignorance back with a verbal whack or two.

ADHD is a real thing and if addressed properly can lead to wonderful results. If ignored or treated like it's just about a bratty, insolent child it can lead to disastrous results. How do I know? My son was diagnosed with ADHD 15 years ago and my wife made sure he received the proper support early on. His impressive string of successes as a college student were only possible because his behavioral issues weren't swept under a rug and ignored.

And had we beat him into behaving better he not only wouldn't have reigned in his ADHD, it would have also made him fearful of his parents.

I find it fascinating that people still believe ADHD is behavioral even though it can be diagnosed through a brain scan now.

OP, just an aside, but my son has had very good results form taking a TBSP of fish oil every day. He takes it without me telling him because it really does help him concentrate. I know it may not work for everyone but it can't hurt (unless you're allergic to fish) and there are many other health benefits as well.
