I wish all the athletes well, hope they have a great race and a fantastic time. As a downtown resident though, I'm super not looking forward to yet again having my street (where the only exit from my building is) closed all day and many of the surrounding ones closed for most/all of the day too. Guess it'll help inspire me to tackle this pile of laundry, but I really hate being 'trapped'. While I can walk to lots of things, the idea of not being able to leave in case of an emergency is no fun. I hope the City figures out a new way of permitting and capping these types of events or at least makes it so individual streets can only be impacted a certain number of times a year!
Is there some kind of GPS/Google Maps web page where we can see how far along the leaders are? I'd like to take a lawn chair out to the head of our subdivision and watch the cyclists go by on Lake Wheeler Rd.
Boy, I really had a hard time getting back home from the grocery store. We are about 1.5 miles from the Harris Teeter at the Ten-Ten/401 intersection and it took me 45 minutes. Eventually had to go 4-wheeling with my wife's Camry through the soybean fields
This article says the SUV driver was passing the athletes on the double yellow and when told to slow down instead stopped abruptly leading to the bicyclist crashing into the SUV.
