Hi Everyone,

I would like to get a hammock or swing for my small screened in porch but if I get a swing, who installs that?
Hubby is stressed tending to business and this lady knows her limitations! Any recommendations?

My other question is about those mounds of sand and ants...are those the fire ants I have seen mentioned on here? Best solution?

Thanks as always.

Amdro for the fire ants and yes, those mounds of sand are fire ant mounds. Avoid them. Ack!

The swing... I'd check with the place where you plan to purchase it to see if they do installations. Could save you time.

Others here may have better recommendations, of course.

ask your Realtor for a good everyday handyman. certainly you have 2 or 3 other small things the qualified handyman can do while he/she is there hanging a porch swing.

for sure though, do NOT just measure the distance between chains and but eye bolts right into the porch ceiling. You need to make sure they're into the structure, or you'll be laying in a heap of swing sooner rather than later

For the fire ants, a good way to tell the difference between a fire ant mound and a regular ant mound is to disturb the mound. Tap it with the toe of your shoe or a stick. If the ants run away or retreat inside, they are just regular ants. If they swarm out to attack, those are fire ants. We buy a granulated fire ant and bug killer that we apply to the lawn several times a year. It does a good job of keeping the fire ants at bay for a while.
