Y'know, I've heard multiple reports of bears and cubs spotted in downtown Raleigh on West Street between Hillsborough and Morgan...oh, wait...wrong type of bears and cubs!

I heard that Cougars were at the clubs!

And on a serious note...there was a bear spotted at Highland Creek last year! All the homeowners were emailed to keep their kids and dogs in the house!

Y'know, there are cougars in Pittsboro - along with lions and tigers. Seems the only thing they DON'T have down there are bears!

If it was hunting season for Bears I would solve this with my Winchester Model 1984 and enjoy the prize-very tasty as well looks like lamb very red, but far lighter than venison and darker than pork.

I love bears! Hope he makes his way out of the city and into the forest somewhere.

I remember one was hit on 85 a few years ago, and was probably the same one walking through some N. Durham suburbs...sad.

WRAL said it was a black bear and that they don't go after people. No need to kill them.

If you want to be scared of an animal in NC, be scared of deer, ticks, and mosquitoes. You're far more likely to die or get hurt in a deer related auto collision or catch Lime or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever than mauled by a bear or die of a snakebite. Of course, that's true of the entire eastern half of the continent.
