Thanks for the heads-up about the slideshow format. That is annoying.
Here's what they had to say about Durham.
Quote:
No. 20: Durham, N.C.
Public School Support: B
Private School Options: B+
Library Popularity: A
College Town: A+
College Options: A
The home base of Duke University rounds out our list. Duke is not the only university in the area, as more than 43,000 college undergrads and grad students populate the city. As far as K-12 schooling goes, 90% of school-aged children attend one of the 111 public schools.

Very impressed Durham beat out Raleigh/Wake County.....and definitely suprised they beat out Chapel Hill. Glad to see Rochester NY at number 13 on the list! Anyone notice that with the excpetion of St. Lous and Minneaoplis. ALL of the cities were east of the Mississippi River? With st. lous and Minneapolis BARELY west of it?

Question is what are they basing these findings on?

Good to see Durham get some positive play in the media, though I am sure the bashers will be along shortly...

What's really odd is that the authors grouped Cambridge/Newton/Framingham together and separated Durham from Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Cambridge is a city across the river from Boston. Newton is a suburb that borders Boston. And Framingham is about 15 miles from either Cambridge or Newton. All three have their own school districts not to mention the 8-10 towns (and school districts) in-between!
