You regular liability insurance policy covers this. You don't need collision insurance to claim this. And it doesn't make your insurance go up. Call your insurance co and they'll give you the ok to take it to one of the above companies. Know that they will come to you but your insurance doesn't pay the $75 or so they add on to come to you.
I tried SafeLite last month to fill a tiny crack on my wind shield. I called my insurance company first & they directed me to SafeLite. Depending on your location they can even come to your home to do the repairs. I was happy with the results & would highly recommend them.
I mentioned them in the last thread about windshield replacement, but soswindshield.com is a local company and did the job cheaper than the quote I got from Safelite. Like Safelite, they'll come out to you to do the job.
I am not sure if your insurance/company covers your issue. If it doesn't then I would suggest going to Durham. There is a strip mall there of Auto repair shops. Not the best of neighborhoods but it gets the job done for cheap and the work is good.
I had my windshield replaced in February using Safelight. Yes they sent a picture of the technician, yes they came to me, both good things. They messed up the installation and then had an attitude about fixing it. They sent the same tech who did it wrong the first time to fix it and it still wasn't right. Luckily, that same car needs yet another new windshield and I am giving Glass Doctor a shot at it this time. Both times no charge through my insurance company.

I'm glad someone else chimed in about alternatives. Safelite has built its business by aligning tightly with insurance companies and so they're great if your insurer is going to pay some/all of the expense. However they wanted nearly fifty percent more than Capital Auto Glass, a company which was recommended by a service technician at the dealership I use. Plus, Capital was great to work with.
Safelite quoted me about 120 bucks over the internet, but only charged me 50. Be sure to call the local business for a specific quote.
