Moving to Raleigh (Cary: sales, apartments, income)

Hello Everyone,
My Wife and I are planning to relocate to Raleigh this summer from Maryland and are interested in any helpful info regarding apartments near NC State. Also, I will be looking for a job in sales - any suggestions on who to work for or stay away from? I have a BA degree with 4+ years experience as a Account Executive selling simple software/technology products via phone and in person. Any insight would be great!!

My wife and I moved here from MD in 2005. It's worth the move. Apartments I cannot help you with but I am sure that if you check online you will be able to. As far as jobs there are a good amount of technology companies here but I would start with SAS, IBM, MISYS, Red Hat, Bowe Bell + Howell, Allscripts, Peopleclick, Lockheed Martin and several others. If you are willing to step away from Software you can always check out Siemens Medical as well as they have an inside sales team located in Cary. Good Luck.

Thank you for the feedback - Do you know of any other good inside sales positions in the area with my background - does not have to be software related, more interested in good base + Comm , with potential to make above average income.

Go for Red Hat as they are hiring currently and pay well and are a great company to work for.
SAS Institue is always one of the top companies to work for IN THE COUNTRY and have great benefits and comp.
IBM is IBM as well as Lenovo are good options.

As far as other options you can try Cisco Systems, General Parts/Carquest, Eaton Corporation, Nortel Networks, Sony Ericsson and a host of others. Being that you are in inside sales you have a good amount of options. THAT being said, inside sales positions down here usually pay a lower base with more commission. The range can be anywhere from 12.50 to 30 per hour based upon the industry, experience and education. The other factor is that in a roller coaster economy they are usually the first to be laid off.
