Our 12 year old daughters have expressed interest in learning how to ride horses. I see there are two places in Chapel Hill as well as at least 1 in Hillsborough. Any recommendations and why?

I have heard good things about Blue Skies. I haven't taken my kids there myself, but know folks who have and they all report glowingly.

I would recommend either Blue Skies of Mapleview (Blue Skies of Mapleview LLC) or Bridlewood Farm (Bridlewood Farm - Home). Both are great. They both do lessons and summer camps for girls, and Bridlewood even has an after school program for girls which picks up from the Chapel Hill schools.

The only one I do NOT recommend Spence's Farm. If you're wondering why, just search on their name and look for the article from IndyWeek.

HTH.

Holy Crap! I just read that article. That sounds pretty scary. I always see signs for that farm, and one of my daughter's friends did after school there for awhile. Yikes. Thanks for the warning.
