You really have never actually run into those that want Cary to leave Wake County schools to keep out 'the riff raff'? Had to sit next to one of those last week at a dinner party.
But, you could also assume that none of us on here feel that way, could you not?

You'll run into jerks now and then.

I think that everyone is troubled by the state of things at WCPSS. Many feel that breaking up the system is the answer because it's too large. I don't think they all want to break up the system to keep anyone out of anywhere... people are free to move to whatever area they choose.

If someone said that sort of thing to you, that's really unfortunate. If someone said something like that in front of me, I'd tell them off, and I live in Cary.

Nope. I've run into those that want Cary to leave WCPSS because the district is too large and it does seem like it would be more stable if it was smaller. But we have plenty of "riff raff" in Cary, so gosh darnit, even leaving WCPSS won't keep them out. Maybe we should build a fence.

PS -- Hey RedZin -- when did "F (dash)(dash)(dash) become "language"? Really?? I could have meant many things..."fish", "farm", "face", "fact"....

Dinner party? Well, that's high falutin'. I have not yet been to a dinner party here.

Sounds like some pretty short sighted and unintelligent company, no offense.

Having friends over for dinner is high falutun'? You never have folks over over dinner? 8 people eating at table is hardly. Thankfully this person was not the person I consider a friend. ..but her friend's husband.

Given where Cary has grown to, and that the Supreme Court struck down impact fees, then Cary has no real desire to split the system. Cary would bear the astronomical burden of school construction, and your taxes would go from lowest to possibly the highest.

It seems almost everyone who moves into the Cary town limits, into the new construction, has 2 kids to educate.

When our daughter was born in 2005 she was the 74th child living on our street, which contained 30 homes.
In 2003, when Highcroft elementary opened, the corner our house sat on was the first stop on a bus route. An empty bus pulled up. It could not hold all of the kids waiting for it. A second bus was dispatched.
You can't drop houses out of the sky 100 at a time and expect schools to keep up.

I have lived in Cary for 2 years now, and yes I am a relocated NYer. I have not experienced the attitude you describe and I think it is very silly of you to say all that live in Cary behave that way. I have had a great relocation experience and love my new home and friends.

We did not choose Cary because someone told us to. It was 3 years of research, working with a relocation specialist and coming down to get to know the area. When all was said and done, Cary was a good fit for us.

Judging from your posts, you clearly love Wake Forest. That's good for you because you live there. You often post about why you think it's the best and that's OK because you obviously like it there. But you have to realize that not everyone will agree with you for all different reasons and it will not work for everyone.

The part about Cary leaving Wake County schools to keep out riff raff is laughable.

The person who comes across as having an attitude is you my fellow poster, and I think you may want to find that bug in your butt and remove it.

The sense of humor has left the dinner party.

It was a joke.

When are you moving? I hope you feel better about your place in the mid-West.

.
What we have learned here is that it's OK for people to generalize about a town of over 100,000 people, but if you generalize about THAT PERSON'S TOWN THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY.
