I had a tech out here on Saturday (somehow managed to cut my line with my lawn edger...how the line was that shallow, I have no idea) and he said the speed boost should come "shortly after" the digital transition coming up in early May.
My next-door neighbor's landscapers cut his line last Tuesday, and the tech who came out for that said even though the digital transition is in a couple of weeks, the speed boost could come any time between then and the end of the year.
I'm still sticking with my SB6141 for 100/10, but for anyone who needs a TWC-approved 16x4 modem, one of my deal boards says this one available from a private vendor has the same guts as SB6183 but it's much cheaper, even with tax/shipping added:

Even if it works fine, one day you'll have an issue that's probably TWC's but first thing they will do is remote in to your modem and see it's not on their list and you're sunk.
To "work" as a newly installed modem on the TW network you need functional, technical and provisioning acceptance.
For example - you upgrade from Standard 15/1 (DOCSIS 2) to Extreme 30/5 (DOCSIS 3) service. If you have an in place DOCSIS 2 modem it will work and you'll see about 20/2 throughput as the modem channel bonding capabilities limits the throughput. *However* if you have Extreme (DOCSIS 3) service already installed and attempt to install a DOCSIS 2 modem the provisioning system will fail the install as the DOCSIS 2 modems are not accepted on DOCSIS 3 service. Obviously the DOCSIS 2 modem will work on a DOCSIS 3 service, but the TW provisioning systems won't allow the install.
So if you want to install a DOCSIS 2 modem, you need to roll the service back to DOCSIS 2, install the modem, then you can upgrade your service to DOCSIS 3 if desired. Just trying to illustrate that what appears logical, doesn't always work.
That said, you can provision modems not on the existing "approved" list as long as they were approved in the past. So modems like the DOCSIS 2 SB5101 that were previously approved can be installed on new DOCSIS 2 service- for how long? Your guess.
FWIW - the Tier 3 Internet tech I spoke with on Sunday was adamant that the Internet speed upgrades would not be a flash cut. Lots of back end system changes required before the extra bandwidth is available. He did say that significant testing had been done in limited trials in Charlotte and Raleigh and TW was confident that they could deliver the improvements. His "guess" was that it would be a few months (as opposed to a few days, weeks or (gulp) years). We'll see ...
