My current vet is terrific, but very expensive.....I spent over $1500 this year on routine health maintenance stuff for 2 small dogs. Any suggestions for good care but with a more realistic price tag?

I'd be interested too. I'm in the same boat as you are.

We have gone to Town and Country Vet on Salem St for years and we couldn't be happier. The prices are reasonable and the cost of flea/tick meds are the same as you can find online. We don't have a single complaint about these guys.

FWIW - We have 2 dogs and 2 diabetic cats and they are all treated extremely well.

Our cat has been a patient of Dr. Merriman at Town and Country in Apex for 9 years. It's just a short drive from Cary Parkway. We are very happy with him and the staff there. Don't have a way to compare pricing though. We have not used anyone else.

We use dr. Munn at west Cary animal hospital. They are very reasonable.

I know a lot of people who use town and country but west Cary is very close to me. Apparently at one time T&C were the only game in town. In 18 months I don't think we've spent more than $500 including meds and 2 emergency visits. After the last one the doc showed us clinical tests to check for sprains so we don't have to go back unless we really think there is a serious injury.

Another vote for Town & Country.. I've been pleasantly surprised at their reasonable prices (and quality care).

We use Parkway Animal Hospital and even though can't say they're a "discount vet" , they have been very responsive to our financial situation when our cat needed urgent (and expensive) help. If you really like the current vet, perhaps it'd make sense to ask for a discount? Just a thought...

Just used Banfield at the pet store, we just moved here and are very close to Park West , so we brought our dog there to get shots, and were very happy with the service and price.FWIW
