It might be worth saying what kind of experience he has and in which IT field your husband is in, I know there are a few tech folk on this board and some of them will get recruitment bonuses or at least know if their firm is hiring.

I know that the employEE is not losing anything by using a recruiter, unless they're also in sales themselves and might sell themselves to the future employER. With a recruiter, the employER is saying "find me great candidates". They're not saying "find me somebody willing to work for less than their market value"

I work for a huge government contractor. They almost always use recruiters. One reason they do is that if the employee doesnt work out it is a simple phone call to have them not return to work. There is no HR involved and little risk for the company to find the best candidate.

Recruiters will start contacting him after he uploads his resume on job boards like monster, career builder, indeed, simplyhired. Thats the way it has worked for me in the past.

I'll send you a recommendation via private message.

A truly decent recruiter is a valuable resource because they maintain excellent relationships with hiring companies and develop a reputation for only presenting pre-qualified candidates. And much like a smart Realtor, a recruiter is happy to start working with a strong candidate in advance of their hitting the market; conversations today often lead to revenue tomorrow.

Many tech employers in the area don't bother posting jobs themselves -- they just go straight out to recruiters.

Therefore, it's very useful to contact a recruiter, along with shopping direct.

I personally have never had a recruiter help me as a job seeker. That said we use insite global at my company to help track down help. Linkedin dot com can be a huge source of job leads, recruiters troll that all the time.

I will say the jobs we use outside recruiters for tend to be contract spots and not full time. Off course if you are worth your beans you get converted to full time.

Unless there is a specific employer you are targeting and need to go through a handful of specific agencies, it isn't worth anyone's time to be building a relationship with a recruiter. The return on such a time investment, from my experience, is abysmally low (zero, rather). The job you end up with will likely come through other channels (networking, responding to job ads, uploading resume on job sites).

You could check some of the larger agencies like Robert Half or Apex Systems. They often offer temp to hire positions. Dice.com is also a good place to look for IT jobs. I agree that you should state what your husband does because there are people here who are aware of openings....
