Searstone in Cary looks nothing like it was planned. It is very disappointing to look at compared to what was discussed for the location. So much of Searstone is not finished and does not look like it will be anytime soon. Houses are placed right next to Davis Drive with no backyards, the large building around the lake from the exterior looks boring with no contrasting design and most of the businesses are ending up to be fast food restaurants with many business lots still empty. In comparison across the street the Bradford looks like it is really coming together with the Publix Grocery Store finishing soon and a Taco Mac restaurant in the works.
Taco Mac is opening at the corner of Davis and High House?? As someone who spent her late teens and 20s in Atlanta, the idea of both a Publix and a Taco Mac within a mile of my house is too much to take in at one time. I must lie down now.
Not sure it will make much of a difference but I did read in the August 15th Triangle Food Blog that another restaurant is in the works for Searstone...
"Got a press release this week that the first North Carolina location of Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers restaurant opened on Wednesday in Durham at the intersection of 15-501 and Interstate 40. But their plans in North Carolina don’t end there. Plans are now underway to begin construction on a second location in Cary in the Searstone Retail Village at the corner of Davis Drive and High House Road. Check them out here."
Those dining at Bojangles have an incredible boring view of the back of one of SearsStone's major large buildings. I cannot believe the design and lack of colors (beige stucco?) got past Cary Planning & Zoning, etc. Reminds me of my Army Barracks, after getting drafted.
Kudos to Cary for putting in an audible crossing signal nearby as well, for the visially impaired walking from SearStone across Davis Dr. to the shopping center to the pub or to get frozen custard.
I have a friend whose parents live there in the assisted living portion. They love it. My friend has eaten there and says it is some of the best food she has ever had.
Maybe the residents don't care what it looks like for those on the outside!!!
^^ Wait..what? They didn't design to appease me???
Based on what I read a couple of years ago they were supposed to be really nice on the inside. I'm glad to hear that they followed through.
