I assume this is not exactly what you are saying, but basically, it comes across as "don't build the roads, then there will be no infrastructure to expand, so people won't build." That just won't work.

540 was built in response to a current AND anticipated need. Once built, the anticipated growth continuted and (to your point) more growth was enabled. That being said, not building roads may strangle growth at some point in the future, but not until traffic is so problematic that it is no long desirable to move here. That would have the effect of still making travel worse.

Simply put: I don't think that "not building roads" is a solution to keep traffic down.

Not building roads is economic death for the Triangle, although I suppose it could drive up real estate values ITB Raleigh.

Ya'll just wait when they start tearing up southern I40 and reduce it to two lanes for the next year or so. That is going to push a lot of drivers like me onto other roads further exacerbating the problem. Heck it might be quicker to drive the full route from RTP to Garner on 540 going all the way around Raleigh. Will be an interesting 2015 for sure.

In Holly Springs they simply approve the new subdivisions and still don't build the roads. They blame DOT, which might be justified, but the growth cannot continue until the infrastructure catches up. The town has major bottlenecks during rush hours...and this is coming from someone who lived in So Cal many years.

One thing that could be easily done to reduce some traffic, without additional roads or costs, would be to allow motorcycle lane splitting.

Ugh! Looks like they approved yet another subdivision at 55 and Avent Ferry, yet the Super Street "fix" hasn't happened.

They do this while they state publicly that they know there is a problem with traffic on Avent ferry.....
Then the locals will blame the people who buy the homes...
Then HS govt will blame DOT

Who again approved these permits.......
Business as usual no different then any other growing area
