My husband and I are looking to rent (prior to buying) and fell in love with the Oberlin Court (OC) apartments in downtown Raleigh. We like the amenities (e.g., ITB, perks, etc.) offered by OC. Can anyone recommend similar downtown apartments with more modest rents? Thanks!

That's a good question. I like Oberlin Court, too, and I've been searching for a similar complex downtown without much luck. There are other buildings that offer the same types of amenities, but they seem to be condos, and the rent is comparable.

There's a new apartment building going up, called 712 Tucker. But alas, they don't mention prices on their website.

you might try Parkridge Lane. It's converting to condos but I think they still rent some units as they go through the conversion process. It's a few blocks east of Oberlin Ct. bounded by St. Mary's on the West, Wade Ave. on the North and Glenwood on the East.
Good luck!

Tucker is probably going to be as expensive or more so. Its very high end from what I have seen, as most of Glenwood South condos/apartments are now.

There are a few other apartments in that area, just east on Wade Ave. Parkridge lane that rnc2mbfl mentioned. I had a friend live in another one next door to that there for a year and it was quite nice.

Fletcher Park is right down the street and is nice to walk in... and its still close to Cameron Village and closer to Glenwood. The rents are more modest as the buildings are older, but I think only 20-25 years.

I read reviews on Oberlin Court just now. I read that management has failed miserably at getting rats out of the dumpster. When you step out at night to throw away garbage there are rats all over the place. Secondly, it's full of college kids and they party loudly get drunk and scream on the patios at night.
