Logans Trading Company in downtown Raleigh has a nice little restaurant. You can sit outside and look through the Garden shop and plants afterward.

How about Duke Gardens? My mom loves to go there. Another nice place for an easy walk is the North Carolina Museum of Art.

FYI Hillsborough will be having their Handmade Puppet Parade (HUGE Puppets) this Sunday. If nice weather, it is a different sort of parade; very artistic and cool. You could take have brunch at Antonia's or LaPlace and take a stroll on Riverwalk. Nice Sunday outing. Saturday could be a great museum day or day trip to the coast. It is a hike...2.5 hrs at least. Wilmington in the old section by the river is nice, but if you could make it to New Bern or Southport that might offer more in the sense of walking/sightseeing areas. My mom is the same age, and really doesn't get around well at all, so having many stopping points always helps us. Have fun!
