We traditionally have Chinese on New Year's Eve.......new in the area, and would love some suggestions! Any ideas on where to find a traditional pork and ***** dinner on New Year's Day? Thanks so much!

Where exactly are you? From your other posts I'd guess you are on the Chapel Hill side of town. I'd recommend Hong Kong Restaurant on Guess Road in Durham for traditional Chinese, and Neo China in Durham for more Americanized Chinese. However, it's been a while since I lived over there and someone on that side of town might be able to name some newer restaurants ... assuming that is where you are.

I recently discovered China Palace on the Chapel Hill side of Durham (it might actually be Chapel Hill? It's at Garrett Road and Old Chapel Hill Road). It's my favorite Chinese place now - their americanized stuff is fantastic and they have a traditional Chinese menu as well.

I've never had the other restaurants but I second Neo China. Very good.

Thank you for this information Barbara. We have been disappointed with the Chinese food we've found in Chapel Hill so far so we'll have to try this place as it's pretty close to us.

Default Ming in Chapel Hill

After a decade in Portland, Oregon where there is much good Asian food, I am a spoiled snob. The only Chinese food I enjoy here is at Ming in Chapel Hill.

We went with Scorp200's recommendation and got some Chinese from China Palace in Durham. It was definitely a whole lot better than the Chinese food we've been getting in Chapel Hill but still not the same as my favorite Chinese place in Wilton, CT (though I don't anywhere is as their food was amazing). Thank you for the recommendation Barbara. We'll be going back there.
