This is an advanced visit ahead of my permanent relocation in March (YAY! Another transplant). We will be spending a bit of time looking at apartment and townhome communities in the area, but besides that, what else would you recommend checking out in a 3-4 day visit? Aside from myself (recent grad), I will be bringing a few members of my family, so no crazy clubs or anything.
There are a lot of options downtown on Friday night for First Friday. http://www.godowntownraleigh.com/firstfriday/index.htm I'd recommend going to ArtSpace and dinner at Riviera, but there are lots of other options.
Visitor's Bureaus! (from one future transplant to another)
Hi Rumble --
I would go online and check out the Visitor's Bureaus/event calendars of Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and Carrboro...There's a bunch of stuff going on. For instance, I'm planning to check out the Human Bodies exhibit in Durham when I'm there in April.
best of luck!

It'll be cold, but you might want to check out Jordan Lake - the drive down 64 is a great example of how pretty North Carolina is. Indoors, you could go to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh - gives you a chance to see downtown, the museum is free, and gives a nice tour of the ecology of the area. The North Carolina Museum of Art is also really good, and also free. The Tobacco District in downtown Durham is fairly nice for walking around, shops but most have outside entrances, it's not a mall. You may even want to check out the weekend Flea Market at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.

Is the Human Body exhibit coming back again this year? I know it was here in 2007 and I didn't realize it was coming back again.
Now that I look at it, the admission coupon expires July 31, 2007 for The Streets at Southpoint engagement. I received the Durham Convention & Visitor's Bureau brochure in very late November 2007. Looks like I misread it. Boooo. Sorry for any confusion!
