I was just reading about mountain lions moving into Boulder. Are there any animals in the Triangle that attack and eat people?

Not in the triangle. There have been a few bear sightings but it's not common. Bears in the east and west, gators in the SE.

Search "mountain lion" on here...my favorite thread ever

There are bears in the triangle. Black bears have been sighted in Durham and Hillsborough in recent years. A friend of mine lives in NW Raleigh and has seen quite a few coyote.

We have coyote here. And bears. There's a ton of wildlife in Umstead.

I know someone in Rougemont who says she's seen a mountain lion - that's not the triangle exactly, I realize, but hey close enough.

Worry more about the deer tick which transmits Lyme Disease and a host of other nasty bugs that cause things like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Babesia and Bartonella.

These diseases are quickly reaching epidemic status.

Ticks are a significant risk here!!!

Coyotes are pretty common and get larger here than they do in the west. While Bear sightings are not unusual, they don't appear to be permanent residents. They are typically young males that are passing through.
