Building a new home and will be installing home security eg. ADT, Slomin,... Do those of you who currently have such systems have any advice, gripes, accolades for any particular company. What types of systems do you have?? Doors only? Motion? Window? Starting my education on these and any input would be greatly appreciated.
We use CPI security. I was not really into a security system as I don't really feel we need it(the wife really wanted it, and you know she won). I will say that we have been happy with the system and the service. What I liked about CPI is that they have their own monitering center(many others farm out their monitering) and with the alarm they have a two way speaker that they talk to you on to see if you really have an emergency.

So does Joel Matlin of Alarmforce and I see so much of him on tv that I fel he's a member of the family
I had CPI in my old place. Got a great deal on a package that was top of the line at the time. I had the two-way voice system, key fob, smoke detector, and the medical emergency service.
I didn't like the fact that I was locked into a two year contract. Fortunately, when I sold, the buyer wanted the system. CPI let me out of the contract since the new homeowner had contacted them and signed a contract.
CPI and the guy to call is Dean Morron at 395-3083. He won't sell you more than you need and he's a straight forward salesman who won't waste your time.
VECTOR security has been named the best monitoring station in the USA 2 out of the last 5 years ... something none of these companies have ever had the glory of getting in cluding ADT and CPI.
CPI will stick you in a 5 yr commitment before you can say, "nah."

Are they in the Triangle? We had them in Richmond and were very happy with our service. Avoid ADT. 18 months into our contract we got a letter yesterday saying they were raising our monthly rate from $41 to $44 (our rate is high because we have battery backup for VOIP). I guess I can petition them to waive the increase, but come on. I should have known.
