My husband and I bought a 1970's split level in November. We've only been here 7 weeks but it's clear the house needs insulation, it was even mentioned in our home inspection. At this point I'm not sure what what it costs, what type to get(spay foam, blown in, rolled out) or which companies are the best.
The house is a split level aprox 1950 sqft.
Any advice, suggestions, what did yours cost, who did you use, would you recommend them etc is appreciated
I was recommended to Greenserve on this forum. It's been a couple of years now, and I don't remember exactly what I paid, but they did a really good job and it's still working fine. It also made a big difference in my heating/cooling costs.
There is more to it than insulation.
You should consider a home energy audit to target the biggest losses of conditioned air.
Sealing ducts, windows, penetrations, prior to adding insulation may provide even more efficiencies than just adding insulation.
Air leaks cost a LOT of money.
