I opted to remove the paint on my 1949 vintage siding, down to bare wood, and repaint ...plastic siding has a place, just not on my place.

A new row of houses near me has major mold problems with their vinyl siding. Hardiplank looks like real wood instead of plastic and is much more durable. I'm not sure how the price compares.
