We need to remodel our investment property (install wood floor, change carpet, painting, cabinet etc) and looking for a good/reliable general contractor. We prefer the GC that has worked with investors before. Can anyone give some recommendations? Any information is truly appreciated.

Anything you could tell us about the specific projects his company did for you? I ask because I will be looking for a GC myself pretty soon. On AngiesList I saw a number of D and F reviews for his company, seemingly not related to quality of workmanship but more simple communication related drop of the ball and so on. To be fair there were also a lot of A reviews or I wouldn't be asking.

I also noticed he works as not only a GC but also a Realtor, as well as a professional DJ, and while I'm sort of impressed by the diverse skill set on one hand, I'm a big believer that practice makes perfect and there is much to be said for specialization. Wondering if the communication misfires were caused by being spread too thin?

Would love to hear about the success stories you had with his firm.

Gary started as G Double Painting. In that capacity his company painted the exterior woodwork of my house. Portions of the fascia and soffit were found to be rotted, and Gary personally did the carpentry to repair it.

At that time Gary expressed his desire to get a General Contractor license and broaden his scope to remodelling, renovation, and construction of decks. He worked hard and accomplished these goals.

Any businessman will have a few dissatisfied customers, and those folks tend to be vocal about their experience. In some cases the business screwed up, in others the customer had unreasonable expectations.

My subdivision maintains a web site which includes a Recommendations Page. I am only one of the people who put G Double on that "good guy" list.

I am not related to Gary Jeudy and hardly know him on a personal level. As with any substantial home repair it is a good idea to meet the owner and ask for references. Get (at least) three detailed bids on a job.
