I had been watching Pam Saulsby since her days at WPTV in West Palm Beach, Florida and it was nice to see a familiar face on TV when we moved here. I won't name names, but there are much worse news anchors still on local TV stations than Pam could have ever possibly been. I'm glad she is taking the rare opportunity to re-evaluate her life and move forward wherever that may lead.
Okay... I know who she is, but I don't watch local news any more and haven't for years. I might watch a clip online or whatever, but that's it.
All this said, her column sounded like she was saying she's gotten rid of the anchorwoman "uniform" and that she finds it liberating.
I think most women who are in any sort of career where there's an expectation of a specific type of dress might say the same if they changed careers and no longer were bound by the dress code they used to adhere to.
Where are the sour grapes???

I don't know what she is really saying in the article, other than she did not like the clothes she had to wear.
Which is pretty reasonable, because women are often expected to have a certain type of clothing they wear, and it's not always enjoyable or comfortable to wear.
I guess that's true of men, too, if they're in an environment where suits, for example, are still required and they don't like to wear them.

Here is the part I am wondering about. She is saying something, but as an outsider, I do not know what:
"See, it wasn’t just clothing that was masking the woman I truly am. It was my way of being around others, too.
There are politics to be played in the work world. There was Kool-Aid to drink. There were points of view to suppress if they ran counter to the opinions of the corporation paying your bills.
Shedding. It can get really personal."
I am shedding people who take advantage of my kindness. I am shedding people who only wanted my friendship because I was on TV. I am shedding distorted truths and a mindset that says to succeed in the corporate news world you must give all you have in you.
