I need recommendations for a gynecologist that will not terrify a teenager. She just turned 18 and wants to start taking BC so she's protected when she's ready. She prefers a female Dr.

Anywhere in the Raleigh, Cary, Apex area is fine.

Thank you!!!

I didn't realize a pediatrician can prescribe BC. That would be awesome, I'll give them a call! Thanks!

Why is an 18 year old still going to a pediatrician?

Our pediatrician sees the kids at least through graduation of high school. Mine turn 18 midway thru senior year. I think a lot of 18 year olds are still going to the pediatrician. Our pediatrician got the oldest all set and ready for college (granted she was still 17 when she left for college) and even saw her once when she was really sick on a break from school when she was 19. She goes to a regular family doctor now.

OP- The girls and I go here Associates In Women's Healthcare and it's been a really nice practice. Everyone is female.

This is who I had been seeing until I decided to do everything at Duke. All of the doctors are women. My daughter (who was early 20s at the time.) really liked Dr. Chawla, but they're all good.
