Thank you for the suggestion!! I absolutely will apply. I worked in the intermediate care nursery and in the playroom at Brenner Children's Hospital in Winston-Salem and loved it. I had even considered becoming a play therapist!
In the playroom I get to interact with a bunch of child life specialists (Duke has 10), which I didn't even know was a profession until I started volunteering there. Oh and you should get free parking in the main garage right across from the Duke hospital, if you become a volunteer.
Given your background, there are a lot of things out there. I know that there is a great non-profit that helps kids called Student U. It's in Durham. Urban Ministries of Durham has programs for the residents of the homeless shelter and is always looking for good volunteers.
Lots of places could use your talent, but I'm mostly familiar with the Durham area. Good luck.
