They delayed opening when the temp was 12, so I can imagine with it being forecast to be -3 in Greensboro, -2 in Chapel Hill / hillsborough, -1 in Durham, 0 in Cary and Raleigh it will be a good delay. Will probably be 12* by lunchtime. Hell the warmest it's going to get that day in any of those cities is 19...

Pictures people. Pictures.

Glad y'all did not lose power. That is when it gets bad.....unless you have a good generator.

So, I just drove in. (kind of have to, I live a couple miles from the office and the owner is here)

Even with the low temperatures, I was surprised there is some melting going on. (Drive on Davis, Morrisville Carpenter to Aviation). Some areas were just wet, so they could plow that and have in a couple of spots. Might make it some what passable tomorrow in a few areas, but there will be lots and lots of glaze ice probably.

Now, to the person driving the Honda Oddessey. If you are so scared that you have to drive 10 MPH or less with flashers on and riding the brakes, you probably should have just stayed home. You definitely should not be on your cell phone.

I'm not sure where those numbers are coming from. It's 30 degrees in Garner right now and the snow is starting to melt off my roof in the sun. If the town had run a plow or salt truck down my street, it would probably melt down to the asphalt this afternoon, but of course that won't happen.

Our neighbor across the street has tried twice to get his pickup out, but he only makes it out onto the cul-de-sac before he has to give up and slide his way back into his driveway. Not even leaving a mark on the road for his efforts...tough layer of ice we've got going.

I think he's talking about the forecast for Thursday. It's supposed to be a low of -1 in Chapel Hill.

The parking lot in my apt complex in Durham near southpointe is a solid sheet of ice. Work is closed (and I was taking today off anyways)...won't be going anywhere today!
