Hi all. I know it's probably been asked before about great places to live near RTP.

I'm single, no kids at home, and have 4 dogs. I need to find an area where the prices are decent (low 200s) but where I can have room between me & the neighbors (due to my barking dogs). Also, a SAFE neighborhood is a must for me.

I've looked at Apex & Cary, but they seem too suburban. So I guess I'm looking for something that is 1/2 suburban, 1/2 country. I'm an IT contractor, so I could be working anywhere in the RTP area.

I don't mind a 45-60 drive.

Can you recommend something for me ?

Thank you,
Karen

I would suggest semi-rural portions of Orange County outside of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough.

Willow Spring seems to be popular among my coworkers.

You may want to look at the Wake Forest area, including Rolesville. And to get a bit more land, check out homes that are in Franklin or Granville County, on the Wake Forest line.

I had clients that purchased a cute smaller home on l/2 acre lot in Franklin County but had a Wake Forest address.

Also, this may or may not be an issue but in some municipalities they have a limit on the number of dogs you can have. Don't know if that's true around here, but I know where I used to live there was a limit to 3 dogs, I believe. This type of rule generally tends to be more in the suburban areas rather than rural areas.

If Karen's dogs are barking while outside, my guess would be that l/2 acre (as in 50ft between houses) wouldn't be enough.

You might find more than 1/2 acre if you try Hillsboro, Hurdle Mills, Mebane.

East Clayton or North Benson both fit your description.

There are no dog limits here. As long as they're not a nuisance to your neighbors and you take care of them.
