I am trying to figure out what trees I have in my yard. I can best describe it as a white wisteria looking tree. It had huge clumps of hanging flowers that looked like grape bunches in its full bloom. I have searched online and ruled out bradford pear, dogwood, crepe myrtle and several others but it really looking like a wisteria. I know they are vines (wisteria) but this is a 50 foot tree with no vines at all. It smelled heavenly when it was in full bloom too like honeysuckle. Thank you for your help!

Too big for a Japanese Snowbell, but flowers seem similar.

I agree. They aren't native to Raleigh, but are native to the Midwestern united states if I'm not mistaken.

Default flowering tree

What you have is a black locust tree. There are thorns near the flowers so be careful. It is a common tree and I think it probably grows almost everywhere. You might want to confirm this info by looking at a Golden
Guide to Trees or Trees of N.C.

Yes finally, someone who has the same tree as I do! This tree is at the edge of our property actually on the edge of the woods. But there are others deeper in the woods and about this time every year it smells heavenly around here! But there are no thorns on these branches what so ever! Just love the smell! I've always thought it was a honeysuckle tree, guess not.

Could be a Yellowwood tree, too. I don't think they have any thorns.

Yellowwood (Cladrastis kentukea)

Honeysuckle is a vine.

I know this is an old post but let me know if you still live where this black locust tree is.
