I live in Strawberry Hill Apartments, and I just moved from the north as well. I haven't seen any cockroaches yet. Well I try to keep the apartment clean as much as possible. Although, I have come across a beetle only because my husband likes to forget to close the balcony's screen door... >(

That one is in a good location, but there are no washer/dryer hook-ups and I truly cannot live without that, haha. Thanks, though!

They do have washer dryer hookups. They used to have washers and dryers in the apartments but took them out because they have a laundry facility....I use the washer/dryer area as another closet. Haha

Hmm, the woman I spoke with definitely said they don't even have hook-ups, but it seems like she said that was only in 1 bedrooms. Are you in a 2 or 3 bedroom?

Otherwise, do you like the complex and is it safe, especially at night?

Yeah, I have a 2 bedroom apartment. I like the complex other than the kitchen which is smaller than my liking, but definitely a good price for the apartment. It is safe at night, but of course I don't walk around at night.

Well, that's good to know, at least! I am hoping something works out with renting a room and bathroom in a house or perhaps a one bedroom apartment elsewhere.

Thanks!

Still trying to get some info on various neighborhoods in the Durham area:

Does anyone have any info on these apartments: Avalon East and West, Colonial Village at Deerfield, and Colonial Grand at Research Park? Or, any suggestions on affordable apartments in safe location that are < 25 minutes to Butner?

I also have questions about safety of certain neighborhoods/areas. I would much appreciate if anyone could shed some light on these Durham areas:

- Intersection of Camden Ave. and Avondale DR. (just south of 85)
- Intersection of Elizabeth St. and Edward St.
- Intersection of Hillside Ave. and South St.
- Intersection of West Trinity street and North street
- Intersection of Birch drive and Lakeview Drive (north Durham)

Thanks so much!!
