Question for our weather followers:

If you look on wral hourly weather through Sunday.....it lists temps down to 25 degrees but it says just rain? How is this possible? I know there is a weather advisory for thin ice glaze but the hourly forecast for just rain (nothing frozen) confused me.

Just curious .....

"The precipitation could take the form of freezing drizzle or light freezing rain through mid-morning in the south and midday in the north before becoming mainly drizzle or light rain."

Looks like it'll be fairly low-impact around here. At least I hope so.

Well when this same thing happened in mid January; they closed schools. That was without piles of snow left over from a previous storm as there is now. I guess we'll see what happens.

It depends on what the temperature is in the atmosphere as it falls and where it falls. Sounds like we may get a glaze in the early part of the day that melts as the day wears on. Going to be a nasty day no matter what. I'm so glad we have to travel to Durham tomorrow, LOL.

It's supposed to be above freezing most of Sunday night and into the wee hours of Monday, so I don't think it will impact schools or the work week. WRAL has it at 38º at 4am on Monday morning. It may be yucky for awhile Sunday morning, though.

We've got freezing rain this morning. Wooden steps are iced over.

The walks I shoveled at our community were safe last night but treacherous this morning when I was walking back from the gym.

I think wral really jumped the shark on weather coverage when they preempted regular programming to cover this.

Did you miss the pileup by the airport at 5:30 AM? News needed to get out to keep people home.

Tell that to the folks who had the pile-up getting to the airport this morning. They probably would have appreciated some warning....
