Anyone gotten kitchen knives sharpened lately? About how much per knife should this cost? I've seen a guy at the fairgrounds and was curious also if anyone ever took their knives to him...

I had knives sharpened a few months ago at Beck's Cutlery in Cary at McGregor Shopping Center. They did a good job. There prices were:

1-4" blade $1.75
5-7 2.75
8-10 3.75
over 10" 4.25
serrated 4.25
pocket knife 2.00 plus .50 for each blade

They also do scissors.

I started sharpening knives for fall fishing and have really gotten in to it. I first bought a steel and then a diamond steel and got to where I could put a pretty good edge.

I then bought an ACCUSHARP tool for sharpening knives..you can google that, and I am very very impressed with the edge you can get, in about a minute or less. All our house knives as well as my fillet knives are extremely sharp, I keep then that way, and it is VERY EASY. They also make one for sharpening scissors. Christmas wrapping was really really easy this year with hyper-sharp scissors, too.

I strongly recommend the ACCUSHARP tool. E-Z.
