The N&O reports that Carrboro is again considering a move to change the postal designation for a large portion of the town from Chapel Hill to Carrboro.

Quote:
The Board of Aldermen will soon conduct a “pre-survey” to see how much residents with Chapel Hill mailing addresses want to change them to Carrboro. Nearly half of Carrboro’s map falls under the 27516 ZIP code, and those residents have a Chapel Hill mailing address.

The electronic survey is expected to show whether or not residents would favor the change or are even aware that they would be affected. A larger survey will follow later this year.

“A lot of people in Lake Hogan Farms don’t realize they live in Carrboro,” said Alderwoman Randee Haven-O’Donnell.

Seriously? I find it hard to believe that people don't know what town they live in - regardless of what the post office says - unless Lake Hogan Farms is populated with a bunch of idiots, which I doubt.

You'd think little things like taxes, elections, town services, police, fire, etc. would give them a clue.

On the other hand, I know a lot of folks who (don't live there and) have no idea Carrboro extends as far north as it does.
