We hear them a lot in Southern Wake county. And some awesome barred owls calling out during the night. Also catch a lot of foxes on the wildlife cam. Love it.
I live just north of Falls Lake, and I've seen one run through our yard. My first thought was what a big, ugly fox it was until I realized it was a coyote instead. I mentioned it to a neighbor who said she's seen "them" in the 'hood, too.
This is so funny because I thought the very SAME thing this week as one ran in front of my car when i was exiting off Buffaloe Rd in NE Raleigh onto 540. I thought it was the biggest fox I'd ever seen! And then realized that now way could it be one. This is not the first I've seen here, and not the first to run in front of my car. There was a time here you'd never see them. I am not so sure it's just because of their habitat being taken away.
You should come sit on my porch and have coffee with me one night ! Im in Semora and love the sound of them.My dogs aren't really happy about it,but my cat doesn't stray far from the porch !
One was in Parkwood last week in south Durham. Ran across the street in middle of the day in front of my car. Never seen one in the neighborhood before.
