Hi all,

I've tried searching for this and found a few good recommendation but thought maybe some more would be good. We're moving to NC this summer (yes, we have a job in place LOL!) and are heading to the Raleigh area next week to feel out areas and house hunt and while we're there we really want to get a good feel for the areas - including local restaurants.

Can you toss out recommendations of locally owned places you like in the Cary, Holly Springs, Apex, Fuquay Varina areas? We love to support local and think frequenting a few of these places will give us another good touch of the vibe of the areas and I'm a sucker for trying new places.

Thanks!

Lucky 32 in Cary. Also add Clayton to your list of towns to look around. Have dinner at Mannings on Main Street in Clayton.

Cary: LaFarm Bakery, Lucky 32 Southern Kitchen, Bosphorus, Yuri Japanese Restaurant, Sushi Thai Cary, Doherty's Irish Pub, Thai Spices and Sushi, Baba Ghannouj Mediterranean Bistro, Tom Yum Thai, La Shish, Cilantro Indian Café, City Barbeque, Maru Sushi, Spirits Pub & Grub, Totopos

Apex: Daniel's Restaurant, Sushi Iwa, Skippers Fish Fry

My favorites out of those are LaFarm for brunch, Bosphorus, Yuri, City Barbeque and Skippers Fish Fry (only place around here I can get cheap seafood)

Thank you! Lucky 32 was the one I found on another thread! Clayton looks nice - but isn't it a heck of a ways out there and far from Target, etc? I don't need to live around the corner by any means but 20ish minutes is nice.

Is LaFarm known for their french toast? I can really rally behind a killer french toast.

Thanks for the awesome list! We only have 2ish days out there and I know my husband would love seafood! We can't get great seafood in New Mexico...

They have a Crème Brulee French Toast there. I've never had it but I've heard people say it's good! I usually get the Croque Madame and then a white chocolate baguette to go

And when I say seafood, I mean fried seafood (just to clarify, they do have some steamer items)

I'll second the recommendation for LaFarm. I'll also recommend Maximillians in Cary for dinner. Admittedly, it can be 75/25% hit/miss, but the 75% when it's a hit, it's a home run. It's innovative and unique. I don't believe its misses are ever due to a lack of effort or the quality of ingredients. In my experience, it's when they try to be too creative or clever.

It's on the other side of town from where you will be, but one my favorites is Anet's Ketch in Knightdale.
ANETS KATCH/Home Page.

I do enjoy Lucky 32 also but I will add Little Hen to the list. They are a small farm to table restaurant in Holly Springs.

LOL Bubba. 8.8 miles from downtown Clayton to Target in White Oak Shopping Center. Also if Bubba is in to fishing, hunting, camping, etc. the new Cabellas is across US 70 from White Oak. Take a look!

THIS! We have a few restaurants like that here too... they always feel too hipster for lack of a better adjective. I get what you're saying...
