If In-N-Out built a distribution center in central Virginia, they could hit the mother lode in the amount of new potential customers, reaching the entire east coast (Atlanta to Boston), except for Florida. They probably won't expand east until they're finished maximizing their territory from their Dallas distribution center.

Sorry, I was referring to Wegman's.

Well, they're building two in the Richmond area. Midlothian store opens next spring, with Short Pump store following in June 2016.

One of the first questions I asked, when we moved here from NJ, was "Which grocery stores have childcare in them?" (it's safe, fun, and FREE, for those who aren't familiar). Blank stares in response. My kids and I used to LOVE shopping at Wegman's. Sometimes I'd drop them off and just go eat lunch in peace for 90 minutes.

And I suspect that's about as far as they'll spread until there's another distribution center.

Wegmans is a family owned business, FYI. They are still privately owned. And yes, they rule.

As an aside, Harris teeter produce is awful. We do most of our shopping there and at target now. I wish I could find some place with better produce though.

love me some weggies. When I got up north (to DC, still south of the mason dixon) I always hit them up. When I am going through the check out the cashier almost always calls me out as a NY native based on my purchase.

Fairway must be nervous, that would be some competition for them. That said, I have been to one in Wegmans in Vestal, NY and honestly, it was no big deal. If we got a Trader Joe's a little closer to my house, now that would be fantastic!
