Lemmings don't actually do that... but I get the point you're trying to make

I moved here from New Orleans. My kids were born in Los Angeles and Manhattan.

Came here because of a Raleigh IT job offer for 30% less after a layoff.

Which means it's not cool of you to rag on transplants. You are not a native and you're tougher on them than any of the natives that post here.

Default Reality

And, unless you are in very certain professions . . . have you any clue how hard that is these days? Securing a job from a distance?

well I'm in civil engineering and I'm in my 20s (no family or anything) so I guess it's easier for me to say that.

Sure, ill-informed people often line attorneys' pockets filing frivolous lawsuits in litigation happy 'merica.

Problem is these transplants in many cases are in high paying fields and are "gentrifying" the area by raising rents/home prices and driving lower middle class residents out.

The over moneyed don't flinch at $1000+ for a 1BR apartment.

These people many times have an entitlement mentality that is very objectionable.

Give me illegal aliens before yuppies.

The "over moneyed"...sorry but that made me LOL. Many well to do or even rich people are frugal, a la the "Millionaire next door". How do you think they get and stay that way? Someone making $150k a year and spending like a drunken sailor on shore leave, without saving for retirement tend to not stay in that upper middle class/upper class bracket for long.
