EZ Pass/Quick Pass Advice

The NC Quick Pass works with EZPass or SunPass (and Georgia's Peach Pass). The EZ Pass does not work with SunPass or vice versa. North Carolina's system is Quick Pass not EZ Pass.

Took a recent Thanksgiving trip and I only quickly read the nc quick pass website to see that quickpass was compatible with all of the toll roads along my route (85 to 95).
Unfortunately I didn't read the details and assumed my sticker would work - but have since learned that only the hard transponder works.

So - after buzzing through every toll without paying any attention - do I have any chance at calling each ezpass authority and providing my quick pass account or am I going to get railroaded with a $50 fine for each toll violation?

So far I've been able to call the express lanes in VA and pay those tolls without penalty but haven't been able to get through to anyone else.

My parents did pretty much exactly what you did recently. It took him about 3 months of phone calls and letters but in the end he managed to convince each of the 5 or 6 states to drop the fines if the paid the tolls.

Question to your parents: I went ahead and got the box mostly because missing a payment for the NC system can trigger HUGE fines & block renewal of your car registration.
Did they have the same problem? Did the other systems hit them with huge fines for non-payment?
