Rapidly we're narrowing down our relocation options. I've stumbled upon Kingswood. My kids are currently at a public montessori school and this feels like it would be a nice match for my kids.
Does anyone have any current reviews or current reputation of this school?
Have a search through the forum. I and a couple others have weighed in a few times.
Kingswood has some challenges (relative to many other Cary schools) due socioeconomic, language, and cultural factors in the base population, but the staff is absolutely fantastic and our 1st grader is doing just fine there.
I like to think of the program as "Montessori Lite" for the time being, as this is the first year Kingswood has served as Wake's Montessori magnet and teachers are still making the adjustment to varying degrees. Kingswood is also a STEM school, so it has a somewhat unique combination there that actually seems to work quite well.
We definitely had some concerns before we started at Kingswood just based on some of the performance data and whatever, but those concerns quickly disappeared. Ms. Sherry is a fantastic principal who sets a great tone for the staff, and we've been very happy with our time there so far.
Most threads are older, or minimal specific, current information about Kingswood ES. I would accept SFSpiderman's input as fairly definitive, FWIW. Here are two more recent threads:
I commented in a couple of those threads but I will add that I agree that the Principal at Kingswood is very good. She was one of the selling features for us. The principal really does set the tone for the whole school.
