Asian grocery chain to open first Triangle store in vacated Lowes Foods space.

First in NC?

H Mart was looking for locations that have at least a 25 percent Asian population – its core customer base – living within a three-mile radius of the store. Census data around the Cornerstone location in Cary, he says, shows that is has about a 23 percent Asian population surrounding it.
H Mart, a subsidiary of Hanahreum Group, has more than 40 store locations in the U.S., most of which are concentrated in the northeastern states of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania, but H Mart has also been expanding in the Atlanta metro area with five stores, so far.

This is great news! We've been pretty unimpressed with the quality of Asian grocers here, and H-Mart will definitely make them up their game.

Now if we could only get a Mitsuwa!

23% Asian but I bet 90% of those "asians" are "Indians". Do Indians really throng "Asian" food markets??

This is good news. We have a bunch of H Mart stores in Northern Virginia, and they are fun to shop at.

I think this should be a good fit for the neighborhood. It's within walking distance for me, so I look forward to checking them out when they open.

I'm glad that the empty store will be filled, because there's nothing worse than an unoccupied anchor store.

So how many people think that several very tasty Asian Restaurants will gravitate to that center? My prediction is that by 2017 or 2018 it will be a destination area for good Pan-Asian eats. (which is awesome, I'm fairly close and it's on my way to and from work.)

The H-Mart I've been to (Chicago) had a food court, with about 10 restaurants, running alongside its produce section. I'm hoping for a good, reasonably priced, ramen restaurant!

On weekends, they have sampling stations set up throughout the store. It is really a fun place to shop.
