Greetings from Orlando! Next week we are moving our daughter to Raleigh as she will be a grad student at NC State this Fall. We need help unloading the truck - I think 2 workers for 2 hours would be sufficient. Do you have any recommendations? She is moving in to an apartment bldg equipped with an elevator Thank you!

If no one responds try CL. Just don't give them any information that she is living there alone. Not paranoid but cautious.

I read an a recently-College Hunks moving and hauling junk. I think it said they were a company and moved college kids-they have hourly help. They serve the Raleigh area.

They are a junk removal company but may also do moving.

U-Haul has a referral list. Two Men and a Truck will do that work for you.

TROSAmoving.com comes highly recommended. Call ASAP because they get booked early!

I tried to hire two guys off Craigslist. When they were late, I called...woke him up, he had to find a friend to come help, they were 3 hours late, by then I had found someone else and he was mad that I had inconvenienced him.

I rented a UHaul in Wilmington, loaded myself there, and then booked Hwy Fifty Five Moving (919) 987-0257 [ hwy55rentals@gmail.com ] for the unload here. I have a two bedroom.

Two people for two hours was $100. They were young guys, fantastic, super concerned about every single piece of mine. I buy old pieces and fix them up and they even asked while moving these pieces, "Did you know about this scratch?" (I was like, yes, it's old. That's been there.)

They were super efficient, took less time than I expected, would definitely work with them again!

As long as you are renting a truck and not using your own, most moving companies offer an unloading service. The problem we ran into was we had our own moving truck and no company would help unload it because it was too much of a liability for them.

Thank you all for the advice! We have emailed and left messages with several of these moving companies - the Holiday weekend is most likely working against us right now. I'm feeling hopeful that we can get some help lined up!
