Dave Ramsey is a pretty good suggestion (recently took his Financial Peace University class). I don't agree 100% but the majority of the advice he gives is pretty solid.

Dave Ramsey is excellent on getting folks out of debt.

Dave Ramsey is terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE on his investing advice and the financial advisors he pushes people towards. Run, don't walk, from this part of his world.

OP, investing is far in the future for you. Ramsey's advice is great for getting out of debt, but tune it out immediately when he talks about mutual funds!

The Personal Finance sub-reddit is a good place to read about or post and get advice and they also have a very helpful wiki.

Yep agree with you 100% - I think the budgeting/getting people out of debt tips that Dave Ramsey gives are great. Not rocket science but a lot of it is psychological.

I definitely don't buy into his investment advice.

Yep, he says personal finance is 20% knowledge, 80% behavior modification. That is why I like the baby steps. Agree with others that I don't care for his mutual fund advice. Prefer the Bogleheads way myself.

OP, poke around on the creditboards forums. They have lots of ideas on getting out of debt, repairing credit, etc., some of which border on abusive. But it is important to know your rights and what creditors can and cannot legally do in trying to collect.

I consider him sort of like Clark Howard, great for beginners, but once you have basic financial literacy it's time to move on as the ideas are very basic.
