so my mom applied for medicaid for me and now that I am 18 I would like to apply on my own but I am still dependent of my parents. Can I do this or does my mom still have to apply for me?

Would you qualify for Medicaid? Unless you have a verified disability, pregnant or already have a child you probably wouldn't meet the criteria. Even then you can't earn over $400 a month.
I work at the health department in Raleigh, where the majority of our patients have medicaid. I don't think you would qualify. It's for pregnant women, children, and refugees.

Not trying to be a smarta$$ but doesn't Obama care have coverage for college students or subsidies for those with low income? I've had Medicaid so I'm pretty familiar with the qualifications.
The direct answer is yes, you can apply on your own now. If you had it as a minor you will likely retain it. If you did not have it as a minor it's unlikely you will receive it now.
