Was reading WRAL today and saw that there was a meeting for SouthEast Raleigh advisory board about the new proposed shopping center . The biggest concern was for the anchor. They wouldn't say who it is but paperwork filed with the city clearly states it's to be a Wal-Mart Market store. All in all even with my disdain towards Wal-Mart ,I still feel that it's the best option considering the location. Even with the super center being further up, many shoppers will choose the convenience of the smaller layout and access. Close to people taking the 64 bypass and for commuters going down New Hope into Garner. Anyone live in this area or have an opinion about the proposed plans?

Nowhere near the area, but the Walmart Neighborhood Markets that opened near me were a surprise in that they are better than I feared they would be.

The nearest competitor would be Food Lion #586, Walnut Creek Shopping Center, 3416 Poole Road Suite 120, Raleigh, North Carolina 27610-2902.

Walmart Neighborhood Market is usually a step ahead and above Food Lion.

My mom still lives on Sunnybrook Rd. I'm sure she would shop there being a short drive away.

It is a welcomed addition. I just moved from southeast Raleigh and the area really needs more grocery options. You're usually torn between the "good" food lion, the "decent" food lion, or the "bad" food lion.

Glad to see I'm not alone on this. I have gone into the Morrisville Wal-Mart Market and was very impressed. The staff at that one is above any typical wally world worker in my neck of the woods. I actually worked at that Food Lion early 2000's and it was run down then and its just as dinky now. My mother lives off Hodge Rd and I can see her going to the new store whereas I can't see her at some of the other options. I'm sure there are many others like her that will appreciate a higher quality(yeh,I can't believe I'm saying it either) grocery option. Now to hoping they don't screw it up by filling it with rent to own places and cigarette shops...

I'm sure there will be room for a sweepstakes parlor or two.

I feel like I'm living in Beverly Hills.

(Where's the Panera? Is that up at Cabela's, too?)

It's not built yet but has been approved. It's going to be at White Oak but I'm not sure of the exact location. I'd guess it would be since apparently it's going to be new construction rather then taking over space.
