My father-in-law has just moved to an Independent living facility in the RTP area. He has asked us to find him a primary care physician and cardiac physician plus a dentist. Will be using VA for some healthcare as he is retired military but he insists on having his own doctors outside of the VA as well. Insurance is Tricare/Medicare so afraid there are limited options for new patients in the area. Appreciate any recommendations/experience with physicians in this area (preferably close to RTP) that would be a good fit for a senior adult with Tricare/Medicare. Thanks for the help!

Start with the Duke Primary Care office that is most convenient for him. They ALWAYS have a few internists that will take Medicare.

Agreed, I had a hard time finding a practice that accepted Medicare. Of all the ones I called in Cary/Morrisville only Duke Primary in Morrisville was accepting new Medicare patients. For dental I love West Cary Dental.

My primary is at Rex (UNC) and I had a specialized procedure done at Duke. My FIL's primary is at Wake Med. I am happy with mine and he is happy with his, so you will probably have good luck at any. This is a great area if you need a heart doc.
