Is there a way to avoid the toll when driving from Northwestern Durham to Morrisville?
I saw some signs for the toll, but they seemed to indicate different prices. How much is the toll one way for a car? Also, do they just mail you a bill every time you drive through it?

From northwest Durham, how would I get to either of those? I am brand new to the area and directionally challenged, so I have no idea how to get those roads. Thanks!
Maybe if you give us an example of a route you want to take, we could make a suggestion about how to get there? Where in Durham, and where in Morrisville? As you can imagine there are several ways you could go.
The toll would really only help if you were coming from 147 in Durham and living over near 55 or maybe on 54 near it. To get to Gander, there's no good way really at rush hour honestly. The toll is good for when traffic is backed up on 40 and you want to go from Davis to 147 or vice versa. We live close to Davis so we do it frequently but by the time you roll down 54 from the toll road to Park West you lose any gains.
I tried google maps, but all options have tolls, and I couldn't find an option to avoid them. I think I may have found one on map quest: 147, 40-E, 540 for a short time, Chapel Hill Road - does this seem like a way to avoid the toll?
How much is it one way anyhow?
