TWC says it can't port phone numbers from Vonage ? Both are VOIP services, not sure why they can't. Doesn't the consumer has the right to take his phone number to the provider of his choice ?

We ported our Vonage number to TWC, but that was three years ago. But I know not all numbers can be ported.

We live in an area where we are in Cary town limits but have a Raleigh TWC "service area". They could not port our AT&T # because of that--maybe it's something like that?

Yeah Time Warner tries to only let you port numbers that are local to the TELCOs in the area for whatever reason. I moved with Time Warner to a different town, Holly Springs to Fuquay and couldn't even port my number from TWC to TWC, so figure that one out. Truthfully though with VOIP, it shouldn't matter where you are.

Buy service from TWC with whatever number they assign you, port your current number to ring.to, and then use ring.to to forward your inbound calls to the TWC number.
