Ok, I know this is a big problem here...pollen. For the past four days straight my eyes have been bright red, itchy, watery, scratchy and covered in film. I looked on my pollen app and ragweed has been medium high.
I have been trying to drink water, green tea, flush my eyes and use eye drops, saline nasal sprays and loratadine 10mg. None of this has worked. My husband is experiencing the same thing and he doesnt normally have too many allergy issues.
Do you guys have any helpful remedies? Pollen count is going up from here so I need to get a handle on it. I look like I am stoned.
Not a good look for a mom of a five year old at the bus stop.

if the Loratadine doesn't work, perhaps a different OTC medication. Did you have reactions in the spring, and loratadine did work then? I have spring, and loratadine works for me, so I can't give you any better personal insight. My daughter has a fall/winter reaction, and loratadine works for her.

I take Benadryl, but it tends to make you sleepy. With a 5-year-old you probably need to stay alert!

My eyes kicked in really bad this week. My son is complaining about it too. I am trying an rx drop called Pataday...hoping it works.

I cannot take benadryl, gives me heart palpitations and knocks me out. I have allergies during most seasons sadly I am allergic to trees, weeds, grasses, mold and dust.
Perhaps a plastic bubble might help.

Have you been to an allergist? You might want to start getting allergy shots.
I have year round allergies but did not have time in my schedule to get the shots so I take Zyrtec. My kids take Claritin.
It has been bad lately since I had allergy shiners the other day even with the Zyrtec.
Sometimes I have to double up with benadryl too.

My reaction to allergens shifted dramatically after relocating and continued to evolve for at least three years. Now I typically have reactions in mid-Spring and early-Fall (but really May and September).

Zyrtec works perfectly for me.

I struggled so badly the first few years we lived here at this time of year. My body seems to have adjusted and I don't have such bad issues anymore. Hope the same happens for you.

I went to the allergist a lot when I lived in Florida. My allergies were year round there. I did the injections before but that was a long time ago when the insurance covered a big part of it. Times have since changed.
I tried Zytec that last time I was like this, it did not seem to help.
It is weird, the past four days it is just my eyes that seem to be effected.

You can try allergy drops for your eyes,
There are quite a few OTC now that used to be only by prescription. I had to try a few before I found that Zyrtec worked for me.
You can find an allergist here if none of those work and get a prescription for something else to try. But, that the prescription will probably be more expensive than a OTC. It was for me and my ins. plan.
