Nope they are not illegal sites as long as you are steaming content. The illegal part is when you download it. I'm not going to lie and say it's not in the gray zone of legality as far as it's existence. I'll leave those battles to the providers and the entertainment industry. I mean if you have the options to like it on FB,send links to your friends and comment on Twitter about it, it isn't exactly underground. In 20 years I think we will all feel crazy that we ever shelled out so much money to cable and satellite providers. I'm willing to pay for convenience, better picture quality or audio if I wish, but just for availability...nah. Now I don't watch those copies that are filmed in the theatre, they aren't worth the trouble but the screener copies that are released and uploaded online sometimes get my attention. TBH I would be more upset with myself for paying $10+ for most of the garbage thats put out. I'm either getting really picky or just old.

I was getting tired of paying Dish $100 a month so I called and got them to reduce to $75 for 8 months. Not bad, but I plan on dropping it when I move. Does anyone record OTA shows with a DVR? I would love to cut cable, and 90% of the shows we watch are local channels.

I use one of these to record OTA shows. It works well, and it's easy to use. It doesn't have a ton of features like a TiVO would, but for the price you can't go wrong.

Yes. I have the 2-tuner version of the Tablo. Added a USB hard-drive that I wasn't using and bought a $20 antenna and it was up and running. I can connect to it via a browser, iOS app, or Roku channel. I went ahead and got the lifetime guide.

If you're in a location that gets good signal, then it's really great. Check TV Fool for an analysis of what channels you are likely to get based on your address.
